How to read this chart

Each tile shows three things: the symbol, the keyboard key that produces it when the font is set to Wingdings (or Wingdings 2, 3 or Webdings), and its Unicode code point. Select a tile to copy the symbol. The copied character is real Unicode text, so it pastes into any app without the font installed.

Tiles labelled Alt 0171 and so on are the extended characters that have no key of their own. Type them with an Alt code, or see the full list with names on the Wingdings Alt codes page.

Capital and small letters are different keys. For example, in Wingdings A is ✌︎ and a is ♋︎. Keys not shown here, such as the space bar, stay as they are.

Why the code points matter

Before 2014 these pictures only existed inside the fonts. Unicode 7.0 gave the Wingdings and Webdings pictographs their own code points, many in the “Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs”, “Ornamental Dingbats”, “Miscellaneous Symbols and Arrows” and “Supplemental Arrows-C” blocks. If you build software, the code point is what you store. If you use Word, you can also insert a symbol by typing its hex code and pressing Alt + X.
